Two of the apostles, Peter and John, went to Samaria and prayed for the church members, and when they laid their hands on them, they received the holy Ghost.
The process of receiving the holy Ghost is simple: let an anointed man of God pray and lay his hand on you.
What happens after that is that the power of God will flow, and the Spirit of God will flow from his body to yours.
