God Comforts Us to Make Us Comforters

Thoughts on 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 (part 2)
2. God comforts us to make us comforters.
"…the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble,…"
God doesn't comfort us just to make us comfortable, but so that we can comfort others.
Here are two definitions of comfort that I found.
1. to lessen the sadness or sorrow of someone and to strengthen by inspiring with hope and restoring a cheerful outlook.
2. to give strength and hope to.
Are you sharing the comfort that God has given you? Are you a comforter?

    The Temptation to Do Good: When the Kingdom Comes with Strings Attached

    Whether you're reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John, there's a key theme you can't miss: the story is about Christ bringing about his kingdom.Right from the opening chapter of Luke, we’re introduced to this idea. An angel appears to Mary before Jesus is even born and says:“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:32-3

Her short-cropped, curly brown hair fell softly around her delicate face; her pink, plump skin felt amazingly soft; and her movable eyelids lined with thick black lashes opened and closed with her changing positions. The bride doll had perfectly shaped lips and crystal-blue eyes that appeared strangely real. Read more...
