Because Of His Purpose

Because Of His Purpose

This post was originally published on September 17, 2021 and is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Where I join up with a community of writers and bloggers of all ages and stages who gather around a single word prompt to free-write, unscripted, unedited, for five minutes. This weeks word prompt is {PURPOSE}

Kate said purpose. Immediately the word hit my heart, and I knew dear friends what to share with you.

November 2016, it all came crashing down. I could no longer work. My chronic illnesses took over.

I was devastated. I had to leave my beloved Social Work. Oh, how I loved working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I loved the people on my caseload.

To some, they were clients; to me, they were my friends. I was their loving voice who advocated for them because they otherwise could not do so for themselves.

I thought I had lost my purpose. Three years of counseling and grieving the old me. Now what?

Fast forward to November 2019. For some time, I had been feeling God calling. But I couldn’t for the life of me recognize for what.

I had been praying and asked him to show me what he was calling me to do.

Then it hit me. ” but I’m not a writer,” I said. Well, he had other plans. As he always does, since his plans differ from mine. So we had this tug of war going on. Him tugging and me resisting.

Then, I surrendered. He gave me a new purpose to share Him and His Good News. And So it began.
