Get the word out, sports fans! Once baseball season begins in the spring, fans may look forward to the homecoming of their beloved New York clubs.

The best part is that you can still have a good time, even if you’re not a baseball fan. You can spend time at either Citi Field or Yankee Stadium because of the gourmet food.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

To Mexicans, May 5 is their version of St. Patrick’s Day. The Mexican holiday known as El Cinco de Mayo honors the Mexican army’s victory under General Ignacio Zaragoza’s command over the vastly outnumbered French Expeditionary Force at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

It can only mean one thing in New York: a night of drinking tequila and margaritas with the natives. The city’s many Mexican eateries and watering holes go all out for a holiday. Still, the main event is the Central Park West–106th Street–96th Street Cinco de Mayo Parade in Manhattan.

For the 20th anniversary of The Orchid Show, renowned artist Lily Kwong has created a design that is both peaceful and intriguing, drawing inspiration from her family’s deep roots in the natural world. The hundreds of orchids in Kwong’s fantasy vision help people re-establish a connection with nature in a setting of breathtaking beauty.

Orchid Nights are held on specific evenings throughout The Orchid Show and are open to those over 21. There is live music, cash bars, and food for sale.

Foodtrip at Bronx Night Market

The 2023 food festival season will occur at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Saturday evenings beginning April 15.

In addition to food, there will be a variety of other items for sale, such as vintage clothing, hand-poured candles, travel photography, crochet toys, stationery, small batch soap, henna, vintage brooches and advertisements, international handcrafts, NYC-themed clothing, gourmet dog treats, handmade jewelry, ceramics, and local art.

When spring arrives in NYC, the city’s parks become breathtaking. Central Park and Battery Park are two of our go-to spots when you need a respite from city life. The mild temperatures of spring make it the best time of year to do so. Remember to enjoy the city’s cherry blossoms while you’re there.

The connection between the United States and Scotland is honored annually on National Tartan Day. The highlight for many is the National Tartan Day Parade, which takes place on April 6, like the St. Patrick’s Day parade in America. Tartan Day, which kicks off Tartan Week, will be celebrated for the 25th time in 2023.

The first NYC Tartan Day Parade took place in 1999. It was led by Academy Award-winning actor Cliff Robertson as Grand Marshal. It consisted of two pipe bands and a small but energetic group of Scottish Americans marching from the British Consulate to the UN. Thus, people around NYC, the US, and Scotland gather yearly to celebrate Scottish culture and heritage during the NYC Tartan Day Parade.
