First of all, this point can seem so small and basic, that you don’t always believe it works. But it’s so powerful. So smile more.

There are so many benefits of smiling more. Smiles are infectious.

If you can choose to smile, you’ll instantly feel happy. Your smile can influence the happiness of others too. So start out your living well journey by looking to smile much more.

Experiment with this – Intentionally smile at people as you pass them at work, church, in the grocery, or other paces. Notice if they smile back.

A selfless life is a fulfilled life.

When you give, you get back abundantly.

The Bible promises us in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Experiment with this – Do something to help someone who can never repay you and may not even thank you. Give to give. How did it feel?

Try starting with just 20-30 minutes earlier.

You may have to go to bed earlier too!

But when you get into the habit of waking early, you’ll find that it makes you feel much more productive. You may also get a bit of time in the morning to yourself before anyone wakes up and that can be such a precious time for you.

Experiment with this – Set your alarm for 15 minutes earlier tomorrow. Get up and see what you accomplish with that extra time.

If your home is messy and dirty, it will affect how you feel too.

But when you have a clean home, you’ll often find that you feel so much better about yourself and the day ahead.

Try doing one thing daily that makes your home tidier.

For example, I’ve found that making my bed early in the day makes my day go better.

Experiment with this – Do one new cleaning task this week to tidy up a bit. Make the bed, clean the bed, clean the mirrors, sweep the porch. See how it makes you feel.

Something very simple that you know you need to do is the right thing.

Whether this is to love thy neighbor, do right by others, or even sending friends to the right professionals that are helping victims receive fair compensation after accidents.

When you do the right thing, you always feel better.

Micah 6:8 reminds us, To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Experiment with this – Why not try doing the right thing every time you have the chance? Put back the grocery cart, leave a nice tip, or be kinder than you have to be. Notice how this makes you feel.

Eating well, nourishing your body can really boost your health and happiness.

It will also give you a lot of energy and make you feel amazing too. But if you’re going to eat healthily, you need to turn to the right, nutrition-rich foods.

Start in simple ways and move up. For example, start drinking more water, cut out fried foods, and stop eating after 7:00 at night.

Another thing that works at our house is to stop bringing junk food into the house. If I don’t buy it at the grocery store, we are less likely to eat it.  Instead, we’ll turn to a healthy alternative.

Experiment with this – Try a few new healthy eating lifestyle choices. Add something good or cut out something bad. How do you feel?

To complement healthy eating, you’ll then want to think about exercising a bit more.

This doesn’t have to be intense. You can start simply.

For most of us, we need to walk more, stand more, and sit less. We need to turn off the TV,  get off of our electronic devices, and move it!

Experiment with this – Try to move a little more this week. To assist you, use the app on your phone or watch to keep up with your steps and how often you stand during the day. See how a little movement makes you feel better.

Life is always made better because of our relationships.

So if you want to be happier and healthier, then you need to actively work on your relationships every single day.

Intentionally do some things to improve your family relationships and friendships. It doesn’t have to be major. Even a text or email will build a bridge with someone you haven’t talked to in a while.

Personally, I’ve found that if I reach out to a friend, they almost always respond positively.

Experiment with this – Think of 2-3 friends or family members you haven’t seen in a while. Reach out to them and see what happens.

Another thing that you may find can really help you, is helping your community.

When you’re doing good for others, it’s going to be hugely rewarding for you.

Find some practical ways to make your town, city, or area better. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, read with elementary students or join a big brother/big sister program.

Many churches also give you the chance to serve your community – especially large churches.

Experiment with this – Look for one way you can support your community this week. Find a way to give back. See how it makes you feel.

Finally, if you want to live well every single day, then you need to make sure that you’re serving God faithfully.

In unique ways, you can serve Him.

Psalm 100:2 remind us to, “Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!”
