A Miracle From God Could Be Waiting For You
We could define a miracle as an extraordinary happening caused by God. Sometimes, miracles go against the laws of nature. Other times, their occurrences exceed our expectations.
Do you need a miracle from God? Do you need a supernatural response from God for something in your life? He often works things out in a way we never thought possible.
Trust the Lord. Seek Him and His kingdom, and He will care for your needs. In other words, have faith in God. In Mark’s gospel, Jesus addressed His disciples’ lack of faith.
Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? Mark 8:17
Let’s set the scene for what had happened earlier in this chapter. After speaking to over 4,000 people, Jesus miraculously fed them with seven loaves of bread.
They ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food. There were about 4,000 men in the crowd that day, and Jesus sent them home after they had eaten. Mark 8:8-9
Jesus and His disciples immediately got in a boat and crossed over to the region of Dalmanutha. When they arrived, some Pharisees confronted the Lord and began arguing with him.
They tried to test Him. They demanded that He show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority. We don’t know if He sighed out loud, but the Bible says the following.
A Sigh of Jesus
When he heard this, he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why do these people keep demanding a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, I will not give this generation any such sign.” Mark 8:12
The scripture says He left the Pharisees and got back into the boat. Then they crossed to the other side of the lake. In the meantime, the disciples realized they only had one loaf of bread.
Let’s pause and consider what Jesus and His disciples had experienced so far. They had a tremendous service, after which Jesus performed a miracle from God by feeding everyone.
They immediately left and crossed the lake only to run across some Pharisees, pawns of the devil. Isn’t that just like Satan? He tries to suck the life out of us after we have an encounter with God.
They returned to the boat because Jesus seemingly didn’t want to deal with the Pharisees. He used their time in the boat as a teaching opportunity for His disciples.
As they were crossing the lake, Jesus warned them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod.” Mark 8:15
After the Lord said that, the disciples began to argue with each other because of their food situation. I can imagine that after He had addressed His followers, He may have sighed again.
Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? Mark 8:17

The Disciples Needed a Miracle From God
I see two scenarios going on. The Pharisees wanted a miracle from God but didn’t need one. The disciples needed a miracle from God but didn’t seem to want one. So, Jesus questioned them.
- When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” “Twelve,” they said. “
- And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how many large baskets of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven,” they said. Mark 8:19-20
Surely, they hadn’t forgotten the miracles the Lord had recently done. Jesus reminded them of when He fed 5,000 and 4,000 people and the bread they gathered after each meal.
Toward the end of this conversation with the disciples, Jesus bluntly asked them the following question. “Don’t you understand yet?” Didn’t they understand what?
The disciples’ concern focused on their next meal. Jesus, however, wanted their focus on the false teachings of the Pharisees. He warned them to watch out and beware of them.
Even after seeing Jesus multiply bread, the disciples allowed a lack of food to become a distraction. The Lord wanted them to keep the work of the kingdom as their main priority.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:31
Sometimes, I wonder if we really believe what He said about seeking His kingdom. God wants to meet our needs, whether through a miracle or by natural means. He doesn’t want us to worry.
I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25

Trust the Lord for Everything
Trust the Lord for everything because He will supply our needs according to His riches in glory. We can depend on Him to meet our needs in one of three ways.
- He can make a way for us to get it ourselves. Let me tell you one of many times we needed financial help. One summer, we needed $500. God provided a job that paid the exact amount.
- He may use someone else to supply your need. When God called us into Children’s evangelism, we were young and broke. He provided many of the materials we needed through other people.
- God can also provide our needs through a miracle. Recently, God sent my wife a miracle box of books from Amazon. She had never ordered from them, so we considered it a miracle from God.

The Testimony of a Women Who Received a Miracle From God
Miracles always fascinate us. One Sunday morning in church, a lady testified about receiving a miracle from God. He supplied her with a car. Praise God for that.
Some people might have wondered where the miracle fit in. Many people can go car shopping any time they want. To them, buying a car is no big deal.
Others have the funds go to a lot and lay down the cash for a new car. But in this lady’s mind, she needed a car and saw no way of getting one. She had to depend on God for a miracle.
With much excitement, she declared that He had opened up a way and provided for her. She received a miracle, and in her testimony, she praised God for it.
Just like God met her need, He also wants to meet your needs.
Lord, teach us to seek you and your kingdom. And when we do, thank you for your promise of giving us everything we need. Whether it comes as a miracle or not, we will praise you, God.
