A Race Everyone Can Win
I recently watched the U.S. Olympic Track & Field trials. I ran track & field in high school, so I enjoy watching these athletes at the peak of their performance, striving to earn the right to compete on the ultimate stage. Despite a racer’s countless practices, years of training, and having the proper regimen, not all racers win. Sometimes, they can’t control what happens in a race. The runner who led, got tripped, lost precious seconds, and finished last.
Despite our best efforts, and doing everything right, we may not win every battle that comes our way. It can be hard to see the sunshine through the pain. However, there is one race we can win. When we are counted out, God still calls us a winner. When we are shattered by the trials of life, God still has a plan.
No matter where we are in our race of life, when we place our trust in Him, we win. We can trust God to work everything out for our good. We may not see the end goal while we are in the race, but God does. We have to trust that God's plans are better than our own. No matter how much life has knocked us down, we can get back up. Even when it looks like we are too far behind, if we can stay in the race, we will finish.
With God, no loss is ever a loss. We can fight another day. We can make it through this season of life. God turns our losses into lessons, and our lessons into blessings. There is a blessing at the end of our losses. Trust God to keep you through this season, to show you a lesson, and watch Him bless you despite the loss.
Questions for Reflection:
1. Have you ever felt that despite your best effort, your best isn't good enough?
2. When we are shattered by the trials of life, God still has a plan. Have you ever considered asking God to lead you to the plan He has for your life?
3. Do you have complete trust that God will lead you through trials and show you the best way forward? If not, why not?
