Angels in Disguise Part Two on Turning Mountains into Molehills

As a Christian writer, I like to explore stories that will interest my readers. Through the years of writing and speaking to groups, I found many people interested in stories of encounters with angels. So, based on events in my life, I wrote this fictional piece. Someday, it might appear as part of a future book. But for now, I hope you enjoy this two-part story about an angels in disguise.

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

Angels in disguise part two

Angels in Disguise Continued

Throughout the flight, the two women talked and even laughed together. Patsy held Maggie a few times and played tick-tack-toe with David. At one point, Patsy pulled out a well-worn Bible and read Isaiah 40 to Susan. Patsy’s presence helped Susan feel at peace until the plane rocked from a patch of turbulence. “Oh, no,” Susan gasped. “What’s happening?”

“It is okay. It is just some turbulence,” Patsy said. “Let’s pray. Dearest Jesus, please provide us with a smooth plane ride. Help to calm our fears and know that You have everything under control. Amen.”

“I’m sorry. I have never flown before. The shaking scared me,” Susan said.

“No problem. I am just glad I am here to help. The plane is very safe, so need to worry about anything,” Patsy said. “Will your husband be in Montreal to meet you?”

“Yes, that is the plan. We then will fly on to Toronto together. That is our final destination. So what about you Patsy, where are you heading today?”

“Montreal is my final stop for today. I am glad I can help, and I will stay with you until you meet up with your husband. Traveling so far with two little ones is a lot of work,” said Patsy.

“It’s okay,” Patsy said. “I will help her get off the plane and inside out of the cold.”

Susan could not believe her luck in finding such a helpful person sitting next to her. Patsy was a Godsend. The time flew by, and before long, the descent into Montreal began. As the clouds parted, a land covered by snow emerged. Montreal was not their final destination. After clearing immigration here, another flight would carry them onward to Toronto. A flight attendant touched Susan’s shoulder. “The temperatures in Montreal are frigid, so I will help you get the children into the building. I can bundle up the baby and carry her if you like, and you can take care of your son,” she offered with a smile.

The plane touched down and pulled up to the terminal. A cold blast hit Susan as they reached the exit. It felt colder than anything she had ever felt as she stepped onto the metal stairs pushed up to the plane. Susan looked back to see Patsy wrap a blanket over Maggie’s face against the cold. I hope she won’t suffocate under that blanket. Susan picked up David to hasten their progress to the building. Inside, a sign announced the temperature as a negative thirty degrees. How could anyone survive this kind of cold? Patsy followed Susan to the immigration area. They queued up to wait their turn with an immigration office. No turning back now.

Question upon question followed. “Why are you immigrating to Canada? How do you plan to support yourself and your family? Do you have other family members in the country?” The man asked these and many more. But Susan did her best as she answered each question as both children remained quiet, thank goodness. Finally, the paperwork received the stamp of approval, and the family entered the country as residents. Susan and the children made their way to the baggage claim area. Once through the doors, she would see Daniel as he waited for them. Hopefully, Toronto will not be so cold.

“What does your luggage look like?” Patsy asked as she handed the baby back to Susan. “I will grab them for you. Stay here with the children.”

“A large blue steamer trunk and one yellow suitcase,” Susan said. Then she touched Patsy’s arm. “Thank you; you have been a Godsend. I can’t imagine how I would have managed without your help.”

“God provides for us when we trust Him. I am just glad He could use me to help. You are very welcome,” Patsy said. Soon, Patsy returned with the luggage on a cart, and the little group headed towards the doors into the main terminal. Susan clutched Maggie tighter as David pushed the buggy forward. Daniel spotted them and ran over to hug everyone.

“You made it. I can’t believe you are finely here. I have missed you all so much,” Daniel said as he hugged them again. “How was your flight, and did you manage everything okay. I was a little worried about you doing all this by yourself.”

“We did just fine. I met a lady on the plane, and she was more than helpful. It made all the difference,” Susan said as she turned around to introduce Patsy to Daniel. “I don’t see her. David, did you see where Patsy went?”

“No, she was just behind me, I thought,” David said.

“That’s weird. Maybe she ran to the bathroom,” Susan said as she continued to scan the area. “I really wanted you to meet her.” They stood in the area for another fifteen minutes, but Patsy never returned.

“We need to get upstairs to check-in for our flight to Toronto,” Daniel said. They began to walk out of the area, but Susan kept looking back in hopes of catching a glimpse of Patsy. But she never did. Daniel grasped her hand as they checked in for the next leg of the journey and kissed it. “Are you ready to begin our new life here in Canada?” he asked.

“Yes, I am. But, please tell me it will not stay this cold forever,” Susan laughed as Daniel scoped up Maggie in his arms. Then, they walked to the gate, where Daniel played with the children as they waited.

A peace hung over Susan that she could not explain. Was it from all the new beginnings, or from seeing her beloved husband, or was it from something else? Her thoughts kept drifting back to Patsy. Was she actually a Godsend or maybe she was one of those angels in disguise? Squeals of delight drew her attention back to the here and now. She smiled and laughed at the scene before her. “Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of Patsy,” she whispered.
