Being Wicked is not a Good Idea - Christian Perspectives

Psalm 37 states pros and cons about how we live our lives. If you live for the Lord, you have favor from Him. If you are a wicked person, things will not turn out very well for you. Which brings us to the conclusion, being wicked is not a good idea.

“Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. Soon the wicked will disappear. Though you look for them, they will be gone.” Psalms 37:1-2

Promises, promises, promises! Have you ever said those words to someone? Some people are good at making them but not so good at keeping them. I hope you aren’t that type of person.

In Psalm 37 the Lord makes some promises, but they are conditional promises. Verse 3 says we can live safely in the land and prosper if we trust in the Lord and do good.

The next verse says God will give you your heart’s desires if you take delight in the Lord. He goes on to say he will help you if you commit everything you do to the Lord and trust him. These are promises you can take to the bank.

There is also another subject in this Psalm that David covers. He gives a review of the fate of the wicked.

A Summary of What the Wicked Can Look Forward To.

The wicked plot against the godly; . . . But the Lord just laughs. The wicked draw their swords and string their bows to kill the poor and the oppressed, . . . But their swords will stab their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

Turn from evil and do good, . . . For the Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. but the children of the wicked will die.

The wicked wait in ambush for the godly, . . . But the Lord will not let the wicked succeed? I have seen wicked and ruthless people flourishing like a tree . . . But when I looked again, they were gone!

The Lord rescues the Godly

Ungodly people are not looked upon by the Lord very favorably. Right at the end of the chapter, David says, the Lord rescues the godly . . . . whom does he rescue them from?

It says, he rescues them from the ungodly. The last line of this great Psalm says this about the godly, He saves them, and they find shelter in him.”

The bottom line for this life is – don’t be one of the wicked. If you are and remain that way, you are doomed. There is hope in Jesus, for he is the Savior of all mankind.
