Bible in 365 Days – Day 30

Focus Chapters:

  • Job 38-39
  • Job 40:1-5

Standout Verse(s):

Job 38:1, 38:36 NLT

Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:

Who gives intuition to the heart
    and instinct to the mind?

Observation (s):

  1. God provides the means for our protection in both the conscious and subconscious realms of our minds. He either speaks directly to us or pinpoints patterns or behaviours that trigger our intuitive and instinctive subconscious alert systems.

Application:

I recently read the book Blink, by Malcolm Galdwell, which posits that our subconsciousness tends to pick up on dangers or situations that are harmful to us, far quicker than our consciousness. To this end, our subconsciousness tends to affect behavioural modifications long before our consciousness understands the danger and is able to explain why the behavioural shift occurred. I can’t count the number of times I’ve relied on my unexplainable “gut-feeling” or decided to trust the initial messages of “my gut or instinct” when a situation or person feels wrong or right. It is amazing to understand that God guides us through our subconsciousness. Even when we are reluctant to follow God’s lead in the conscious realm, He provides intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind. God continually provides and protects us even when we don’t make it easy for Him.

XOXO,
Chañel
