Bible in 365 Days – Day 45

Focus Chapters:

  • Exodus 39:32-43
  • Exodus 40
  • Numbers 9:15-23

Standout Verse(s):

THE ACTION

Exodus 39:42-43 NLT

So the people of Israel followed all of the Lord’s instructions to Moses.

THE REACTION

Numbers 9:15-18 NLT

On the day the Tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered it.But from evening until morning the cloud over the Tabernacle looked like a pillar of fire. This was the regular pattern—at night the cloud that covered the Tabernacle had the appearance of fire. Whenever the cloud lifted from over the sacred tent, the people of Israel would break camp and follow it. And wherever the cloud settled, the people of Israel would set up camp. In this way, they traveled and camped at the Lord’s command wherever he told them to go. Then they remained in their camp as long as the cloud stayed over the Tabernacle.

Observation (s):

  1. The Tabernacle, God’s resting place among the Israelites, came about because the Israelites followed God’s instructions.

So the people of Israel followed all of the Lord’s instructions to Moses. On the day the Tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered it. But from evening until morning the cloud over the Tabernacle looked like a pillar of fire. This was the regular pattern—at night the cloud that covered the Tabernacle had the appearance of fire..

  2. The completed Tabernacle served as a resting place for cloud. The cloud was a representation of God’s presence. God used it to communicate with His people.

Application:

Before the Tabernacle,  the manifestation of God (the cloud or fire), went ahead (in front) of the Israelites. God had no place among them. Even though we see in earlier chapters that He wants a relationship with His people, God communicated only through Moses. This changed with the completion of the Tabernacle, the environment for dwelling that met His specifications. The Israelites’ obedience gave God a permanent place amongst them. No longer did God have to speak to Moses in order to provide guidance and lead the way. He could now provide a visual representation of Himself that dwelled among, constantly communicated with and led His people. Just imagine it! When the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, God communicated that it was time to break camp and go and when it settled, it was time to stop and make camp. It feels so much like the Israelites are playing a game of “Follow the Leader”!

God chooses to dwell among us when we create an environment that meets His specifications. The truth is, when He dwells among us, it provides the perfect environment for us to build a relationship with Him. This makes me wonder? How many opportunities, for God to communicate with and lead you directly, have you missed because you didn’t follow His instructions that would have created an environment for Him to dwell in?

Chañel
