Bible verses to strengthen dads

Dads are not vocal about their struggles compared to mothers. We are unaware of what they are thinking and how they fight their battles because most of the dads would only want to show their strong side.

However, like mothers, dads also need God’s words to empower and motivate them as they do their role for their families. 

They play a crucial role in what kind of home they will have for their wives and children.

Moreover, dads reflect the kind of father God is to His children. Kids who grew up with irresponsible fathers may think God is the same. 

Thus, fathers need guidance and empowerment from God for them to do their role. 

Bible verses to strengthen dads

The Scripture is alive and powerful to change people. It gives corrections and motivations for us to know how to live here on earth.

Here are some Bible verses to empower fathers as they please God by doing their responsibilities to their children.

God will be his Father

“I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.” - 2 Samuel 7:14-15 

God is telling this to David because He was pleased with David’s plan of building a temple. He said he would raise his son to succeed in his kingship, and God would establish his kingdom. 

Moreover, God noted that David’s son would be the one to build a house for God. Then, God would be his Father, and David’s offspring would be God’s son. 

He would punish him if he were wrong, and His love would never be taken away from him.

Thus, just like David’s son, God will also be a father to your children, so you should not be worried. He would correct your children if they did wrong but love them forever. 

God will lead you

“I instruct you in wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” - Proverbs 4:11-12

Since being a father is a crucial role for their children, some fear taking responsibility. 

However, you should not be afraid because God will give you the necessary wisdom. He would guide you so you could be the kind of dad, He designed you to be. 

With God’s guidance, you will not stumble in your fatherhood journey. He would use people to support you, such as your pastor or church leaders.

God will protect, train, and teach you

“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you how you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” - Psalms 32:7-8

Dads get tired even though they do not show or tell about it. They are more frustrated than mothers, primarily if they cannot provide for the needs of their families. 

Also, if their family is under trial, they are anxious about what to do as the head of the family.

Nevertheless, God promised to protect and deliver you as dads. He will tell you what to do and teach you your path. God's command is your perfect guide on how to handle your children.

You are not alone in your fatherhood. God entrusted you with your family because He knows you can do it with Him.

Do everything in love

“Do everything in love.” -1 Corinthians 16:14

Everything that is done by love is done happily. For dads who carry a lot of things, you may feel exhausted from doing everything, but your love for your family will fuel you not to give up. 

You have dreams for your family and will sacrifice everything to give them the best life. 

However, you should do it with love to enjoy doing everything for them. 

Enjoy life with your wife

“Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.” -  Ecclesiastes 9:9

Dads should always remember that they are husbands firsts before they become a father. They say that a good father starts with being a good husband. 

Pursue your wife every day to make your life easier. 

Also, remember that she is your helper. If you have a healthy marriage, it will be easier for you to do your role as a father. 

God first loves you

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”- John 15:9 

God loves you, dads. It is incredible to know that your Heavenly Father loves you first so you can love and protect the family that you have built. 

If you are struggling with your role as a father, remember that God, your Heavenly Dad, will always be there to guide you and lead you.

Moreover, you are made out of His love. When you focus on His love, it will be easier for you to express that love to your children. 

Love bears all things

“It always protects, trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” - 1 Corinthians 13:7

A father protects because he loves his family. So, whatever or whoever tries to destroy his family, he will endure to protect it, just like our Heavenly Father, who protects the welfare of His children as dads. 

They should never do something that could destroy their family. 

Additionally, dads should learn how to trust their wives and children. 

Also, they should be the source of hope for their family as they strive for their bright future. When a father is hopeless, the whole family could be affected. 

Stand firm in faith

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” - 1 Corinthians 16:13

A dad with a strong faith is a firm foundation of a family. 

When the father is faithful to God, he can influence his children to be the same. He should be courageous as he is the protector of the family.

Furthermore, the more empowered he is in his faith, the more he can do his role as a father. He knows his identity in Jesus, so he would never be shaken by the enemy.

Besides, those with strong faith are guided by the Lord. He is pleased to those faithful in walking in His righteousness and will bless His household. 

Serve the Lord with your family

“But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” - Joshua 24:15

Joshua declared this when the people were worshipping other gods. 

He had made a stand that they would serve the Lord as the father and the leader of his household. His principle for his family is to serve God alone.

For dads, what is the principle you want to pass on to your children? 

As they grow up, all the things they learn from you will be what they would pass on to their kids. 

Thus, you must be firm that your family is for God alone.
