BOOK REVIEW: Let This Heroine Take You on a Wild Ride in “Save Me From Dangerous Men,” by S.A. Lelchuk - The DV Walking Wounded:
S.A. Lelchuk’s Save Me From Dangerous Men (2019) is a dynamite debut that grabs you from the first page and never lets go. This novel introduces us to Nikki Griffin, a private investigator with a passion for books and a impending sense of justice. She’s not your average PI — she’s a bookseller by day and a femme vigilante by night, who specifically goes after men who hurt women.
Lelchuk masterfully combines Nikki’s two worlds, creating a unique balance between her life as a fierce protector and her deep love for literature. She’s witty, sharp, and unapologetically fierce, making it impossible not to root for her. As the story unfolds, we see Nikki take on a seemingly straightforward case that quickly spirals into a web of deception, danger, and high-stakes drama.
What makes this book stand out is its fast pace and snappy dialogue. Lelchuk’s writing is crisp and full of tension, with plenty of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The action scenes are intense and vivid, but there’s also a good dose of humor and warmth, which gives the story a nice balance. It flows so well, you’d think you were voyeuristically eavesdropping!
Another thing I love is how Lelchuk handles the darker themes. He doesn’t shy away from tough topics, but he approaches them with nuance and sensitivity, all while keeping Nikki’s strong moral compass visible. It’s refreshing to see a female protagonist who is both complex and relatable, someone who is fiercely independent but also deeply human. She puts me in the mind of an antihero, but her intentions for those she loves and cares for, even abused women, are pure.
Overall, Save Me From Dangerous Men is an exhilarating read, perfect for fans of thrillers who want a bit more depth with their action. It’s the kind of book that makes you want to cheer for the hero, flip through the pages at lightning speed, and then immediately hope there’s more to come. Nikki Griffin is a force to be reckoned with, and I can’t wait to see where her story goes next. The second book for this character is called One Got Away, and I simply CANNOT wait to read it! #girlpower
If you’re looking for a book that’s smart, gritty, and impossible to put down, give this one a try. You’ll be hooked from the start! I certainly hope he is going to write a third book…what a movie this would make! I could imagine Katey Sagal as Nikki, for sure!
