Christ Formed in Us for God’s Expression
Galatians 1:15-16 tells us that God revealed His Son in Paul. Galatians 2:20 then declares that this Christ lives in Paul and that Paul lives with Him in the faith that He has imparted into Paul. Such revelation and living put each of us on the path to New Jerusalem.
In Galatians 4:19 Paul goes further, saying “My children, with whom I travail again in birth until Christ is formed in you.” Christ is in all the believers and to some extent He lives in and with all the believers, yet He still needs to be fully formed in us.
Christ is being formed in us so He can be expressed through us. The same Christ is formed in all of us to have one corporate expression which will increase unto New Jerusalem.
We were first born in Adam, the old man, and Adam was formed in us as we grew. Now we need to be transformed (Rom. 12:2), changed in life, from Adam formed in us to Christ formed in us.
This transformation is not by our effort but by “beholding and reflecting the glory of the Lord” so that “the Lord Spirit” can transform us (2 Cor. 3:18). The result is His image, the shining out of Christ formed in us. This appearance increases as He is formed in us until it reaches the fullness in New Jerusalem.
