Memorize: Let Your  Speech Be Always

With Grace Seasoned With Salt, That Ye May Know

How Ye Ought To Answer Every Man” (Col 4:6)

Read I1 John 2:15-17

It is possible for Generals to be swept away by the things of the world.

In 2 Timothy 4:10, Apostle Paul said one of his able lieutenants, Demas could not resist the pull of the spirit of worldliness. At some point in their ministry, he gave up on God, left Paul and went after the world.

This is why we must be careful of the attention and resources in time and money that we devote in pursuit of earthly things.

Today’s reading commands us not to love world. It is possible to live in the world and not love it. It possible to live in the world and not be defiled by worldly pollution and allurement.

When we look at the lives of those who missed it on the Christian path, it is so that we can avoid the same pitfalls. Anything your flesh enjoys doing is most likely at variance with what God wants done.

What are the worldly things you must avoid? Avoid worldly language. Mathew 12:36 says one day, you will account for misuses of tongue. Believers speak like Christ. It is wrong to use swear words. It is wrong to say things that fan the embers of lust, greed or vengeance in someone.

Your tongue is not swearing. Some believers still swear anytime they went to convince someone that they are telling the truth in a matter.

You can swear over a lie yet that does not turn it into the truth. Believers do not swear. If you are truly a Christian, your word is your bond. People should be able to take you at your word without any iota of disappointment. Your tongue is not meant to insult or abuse others. If you hear some so-called minister’s wife use their tongues, you will be ashamed to be identified with them.

Colossian 4:6 says your speech must be always contain a seasoning salt.

It must sweeten the heart of the hearer. It must bless them. Today, although still regular in church, any believers and ministers have returned to the world in their manner of speech.

They are copying the language of the world. Toady, some believers conveniently abuse people and they feel right, yet they could not do this some years before. How is it with your tongue today?

What kind of words do you release from your mouth? If you speak lie the world, you will end where they will end. Repent today and ask God to deliver your mouth from backsliding.
