Come Forward to Receive Mercy and Find Grace

God’s mercy brought us to salvation. Now we need His mercy and His grace (1 Peter 1:2, 10) throughout our entire Christian life, even into New Jerusalem, and this mercy and grace are always available to us.

Hebrews 4:15 declares that we have a wonderful High Priest. Then 4:16 encourages us, “Let us therefore come forward with boldness to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace for timely help.” First we receive mercy, then we find grace; both meet our timely need.New Jerusalem

Mercy and grace are available but we have the responsibility to “come forward,” to seek our High Priest. We can come forward by singing, praising, calling on His name, praying, giving thanks, or declaring Him to others. Sometimes we need a companion for this to help us break through.

We will all be together in New Jerusalem. Let us practice now to encourage one another. Hebrews 10:22 is another “come forward” verse and 10:23 is more encouragement. Then 10:24-25 says, “Let us consider one another so as to incite one another to love and good works, not abandoning our own assembling together, as the custom with some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more as you see the day drawing near.”

Thank the Lord that the day of His return is drawing near. We will see Him come in glory, rejoice in His kingdom being established on the earth, and then see New Jerusalem coming out of heaven. Rejoice!

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
