Cooperate for Growth and Building

The Lord Jesus said He will build His church. He does this by a rich supply which flows out of Himself to every member of His Body. This causes the growth of Himself as the divine life in each member and the result is the building up. New Jerusalem is the eternal consummation of this building work.New Jerusalem

We cooperate with the Lord by being willing and open to receive His rich supply. This cooperation has much to do with our heart. When we love the Lord, our heart will be turned to Him.

Second Corinthians 3 speaks about the Jews who have the Old Testament and listen to its reading. Verses 15-16 say, “whenever Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart; but whenever their heart turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” This could also be our problem—reading the Bible or listening to sermons without turning our heart to the Lord.

But when we declare Lord, Jesus, I love You!, and turn our heart to Him, we cooperate and “we all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting like a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit” (2 Cor. 3:18).

The Spirit’s transforming us into the Lord’s image is part of the building work because the New Jerusalem will shine with the glory of God, expressing God.

When God Throws a Little Bit of “All Things” in Your Life

I love Romans 8:28. Now, let me be honest…sometimes I don’t. When I am going through a dark time of loss or disappointment, and someone throws a sloppy coat of Romans 8:28 on my open wound, I just want to scream. There. I said it. Paul wrote: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, Read more...

What does it mean to have childlike faith?

What do you think of when you hear the word “childlike?”For many of us, “childlike” might bring to mind something immature, foolish, or naive. Yet when Jesus talked about childlike faith, he wasn’t asking us to be any of these things. He was inviting us into something pure, trusting, and real. This week, I got to help lead worship at a kids' camp. Watching the kids worship was such a beautiful reminder of what childlike faith truly looks like. These kids worshiped, prayed, and talked about God.
