Day 4: Fueling Delight (Bible Tribe Psalm 1–2) - Denise Pass

Bible Tribe 4

Fueling Delight

Good morning, friends! Day Four! There is an inner delight within my own mind that trumps this life. Fueling delight begins by being in God’s word daily. Delight is so much more than just mere satisfaction.

Bible Reading: Psalm 1-2

Verse of the day is: Psalm1:2, “But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night.”

Word of the day is: Delight. It is the Hebrew word: חֵפֶץ (khay’-fets).

This word means: “A state of being where one feels great favor toward something, inner joyful attitude.

Finding Delight

The book of Psalms is a story of man’s relationship with God as the Psalmist cries out to God and God answers. The blessed man is a righteous man, who has a contagious inner joy. And in Psalm 1 we see what a righteous man IS and what he DOES. I love that he is characterized by delighting in God’s word. It is this delight that fills him with joy and gives him the strength to handle life’s drama.

Joy In Christ Fuels Delight

God made us to be a people filled with joy. Thrilled in our relationship with Him. This makes me think of how thrilled we are when we are in love with someone. How much more should we delight when we know that God delights in us, adores us, and gave His own life for us? Delight is celebrating this reality and reciprocate by delighting in God and in His word. Psalm 149:4 says, “For the LORD delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.”

Have you lost your joy in your relationship with the LORD, friends? Don’t settle for a dry relationship with the God Who made you. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way.” Delight in God. He is where our joy is found.

Application

God made us for so much more than status quo.

Fuel delight in your life by meditating on God’s word.
