Draw Me Close to Thee

"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you..." — James 4:8 (KJV)

One of my favorite hymns is "Draw Me Nearer."

"Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to the cross where Thou hast died. Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to Thy precious bleeding side."

Those words have carried a deeper meaning for me in this season. Oh, how the Lord desires for us to draw closer to Him and commune with Him. The only way we can do that is by building a relationship with Him through prayer and reading His Word.

Relationships are not built through occasional encounters but through consistent time spent together.

When we draw closer to God, He provides clarity when we're confused, direction when we feel uncertain, peace in the middle of chaos, healing for our wounded hearts, and rest for our weary souls.

This season, God has been teaching me what it truly means to rest in Him. I've realized that you can only rest in someone you trust. Rest requires surrender, and surrender requires faith. Looking back over my life, I see His hand in every trial, every disappointment, every closed door, and every victory. There were moments I didn't understand what He was doing, but He never stopped being faithful.

The more I know Him, the easier it becomes to trust Him. The more I trust Him, the easier it becomes to rest in Him.

If you're feeling overwhelmed today, perhaps God isn't asking you to do more. Perhaps He's simply inviting you to come closer. Sit with Him. Read His Word. Talk to Him. Listen for His voice.

You'll discover that His presence is the safest place you'll ever be.

Questions for Reflection:

1. What is keeping me from spending intentional time with God?

2. Do I truly trust God enough to rest in Him?

3. How can I create more space each day to draw closer to Him?
