Everyone Knows The Lord, From The Least To The Greatest

Everyone knows the Lord! Wouldn’t that be a great testimony? Well, everyone will know Him. The sad thing is many will know Him too late.

Everyone will bow their knee to Him. So bend your knee to Him now, because if you first do it in eternity, again it will be too late.

And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already.   Hebrews 8:11

This is such an awesome promise from the Lord. But even with that promise, the biggest chore the church has stands before it. Their mandate is to preach Jesus to a world that really has no time for Him.

My wife was helping to run a kids camp at a local church. One of the young counselors made an interesting statement. She said, “this camp is about all the church I can handle for the year.”

Other comments were, “take the word Christian out of the camp’s name, and maybe more campers would sign up.” There are many today who would be happy to remove the word Christian from every part of life. They would even take the name out of church activities.

The writer of Hebrews, in the context of this verse, was comparing the old covenant with the new one. The old covenant was written on stone and eventually paper.

Who Knows the Lord?

Verse 10 says of the new covenant. But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Hebrews 8:10

Everyone Knows The Lord

The old covenant was an outside source that told people how to live. The new covenant leads from within as the Holy Spirit guides us through His Word and our consciences.

Our world today is more anti-Christian than ever, but the day is coming when that will change.

The book of Joel says that in the last days God will pour out His Spirit. We the church have a mandate to share the gospel with the world.

The Holy Spirit will be right there with us helping and guiding us along the way. Joel continued by saying this.

‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.. . . everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ Acts 2:17,21

Open Our Eyes Lord

Ask God to open your eyes so you can see people the way He sees them. That you would have compassion on the unsaved who are a part of your world. Even for the people that you don’t particularly like.

The Great Commission instructs us to teach, baptize, and make disciples of all nations. Everyone who knows the Lord is called to testify about Jesus while being a living testimony of Him.

Lord, we are looking forward to a great outpouring of your Holy Spirit. It will change the hearts and minds of multitudes of people. Use us to effectively build the kingdom of God.
