The Bible says faith is the primary key to knowing God and accessing His healing power. Our Messiah, Jesus Christ, is the Great Healer.
He drove out demons, made the blind see, the lame walk, and the dead rise back to life. In all these instances, Jesus stressed the supreme importance of “having faith” as a central premise for divine healing.
Today, personal testimonies and secular studies attest to the healing power of God.
Dr. Harold G. Koenig of Duke University revealed groundbreaking scientific evidence that nonreligious patients with heart disease are three times more likely to die following surgery than their religious counterparts. Moreover, saying your prayers regularly can be as effective as taking medicine; prayer and medication combined is a powerful healing way.
Faith can be a powerful source of healing for those who believe. Through prayer, meditation, or community support, faith can help people manage stress, promote positive thinking, and find strength and comfort in difficult times.
If you are struggling with illness or other challenges, consider turning to faith as a source of support and healing.
Sin and doubt block healing
Sin separates us from God. When we live in sin, we are not in a position to expect healing and grace.
Isaiah 59:2 reads: “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear.”
Divine healing happens when we pray to God and sincerely seek His forgiveness for our iniquities.
Harboring doubt about the existence of God or having qualms about our faith and His miraculous wonders prevent healing from the Almighty. Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
When we go beyond our doubts about God and His capabilities and gather sufficient faith and trust in God, we gain access to divine healing.
Jesus Christ: the Great Healer
“And Jesus said to him, ‘Go your way; your faith has made you well.’ And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.” – Mark 10:52
The primary reason for the incarnation of Christ was to propagate the Gospel. God sent His only begotten Son to redeem humanity from sin and give eternal life to believers. Christ used healing, miracles, and other wonders to prove He was the Messiah and clarify the overriding importance of faith for healing and salvation,
Here are some of the healings and miracles performed by Jesus:
- Healing of the leper (Mark 1:40-45). Leprosy was a horrible disease that made sufferers feel like outcasts. Jesus’ healing of this man was a powerful demonstration of His compassion and power.
- Jesus heals a paralyzed man lowered through a roof (Mark 2:1-12). This miracle displayed Jesus’ ability to heal physical ailments and the spiritual condition of the man, who Jesus declared forgiven of his sins.
- Curing a man with a withered hand (Mark 3:1-6). This healing happened on the Sabbath and caused controversy among the religious leaders of the day, who accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath law.
- Healing of a deaf and mute man (Mark 7:31-37). This miracle was another demonstration of Jesus’ power over physical ailments. It also anticipated the spiritual healing that Jesus would bring to all who follow Him.
- Jesus healed a blind beggar named Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52). This healing showed Jesus’ care for the poor and marginalized.
Faith and healing in our modern times
Today, medical science has developed by leaps and bounds. We can now cure even the most fatal diseases—cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other ailments. Pioneering digital procedures and novel pharmaceuticals are within reach of many people to resolve their serious health concerns.
But science was instituted by God for our benefit. Since creation, He has shown His deep affection for us and provided us with all we need for our welfare and sustenance.
But where is our faith?
God is not against physicians or medicines. The malady lies when we put our complete trust in science and degrade our faith in God. Instead, our prayers for healing must point to God, His grace flowing into the hands of doctors, surgeons, and medications to cure our diseases.
Oddly, we only seek Him and His help when we are sick, broken, or in pain. When we are well, we go on with our lives without Him. God requires us to inculcate faith in Him at all times.
God is our Great Healer. He cures our diseases, pains, insanities, addictions, and traumas. He heals any infirmity that is way beyond the reach of science, medicine, or man’s ways. We can access His supernatural and divine healing when we place our complete faith and trust in Jesus.
