Check out the So We Speak podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. This is an ancient question that predates the existence of Christ. The existence of evil has plagued humanity since the Garden of Eden. The philosopher Plato has an argument called “Euthyphro.” It is a philosophical statement of the existence of evil. While this is not what is commonly talked about, it is a formalized statement. It makes these three statements: 1. God is all-powerful.2. God is good. 3. Evil exists in the world. The
Did you know the devil wants to sneak up on you? He prowls around like a lion just looking for the right opportunity. If Satan came to you in a little red suit with a pitchfork and announced himself as the devil, you wouldn’t believe a word he said. I wish he would, but he is cunning and disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). When he deceived Eve, he even quoted Scripture—albeit twisted and distorted. He has a collection of old tapes from your past, and he pushes rewind and play, rewind and play. Oh yes, he knows which buttons to push. He also uses personal pronouns like “I” instead of “you.” The thoughts sound something like this: I am a failure. I am a loser. I can’t do anything right. I’m ugly. The thoughts sound like you, feel like you, and before you know it, you think they are you. That’s the reason it’s so difficult to detect the lies. They sound just like us.

Jesus was confronted by a man possessed by many demons in the land of the Gerasenes. The demons knew that they are about to be cast out of this man, and they begged Jesus not to cast them out of the region where they are. They had it good here, and they don’t want to leave. What happens next is dramatic! Jesus commanded the demons to leave this man, but they asked Jesus to allow them to go into a herd of pigs nearby, rather than to send them out of the region.
Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee to the western shore, where he’s met by a screaming and violent demon-possessed man. This interesting story describes what the demons experience in the presence of Jesus. The demons caused this man to run to Jesus from a distance, not to attack him, but instead to fall on his knees in front of Jesus. No matter how evil they may be, they cannot help hurrying to bow before Jesus. But they’re screaming out that they being tortured by Jesus. You see, the powers of hell are bound and helpless in the presence of the Lord.
After calming the storm, Jesus and his disciples make it across to the other side of the lake. Jesus hoped for some peace and quiet. But he’s in for a noisy and dramatic welcome! The man was so demented that he would violently attack the local people and destroy their property. That’s why they’d tried to chain him up. But the evil spirits within him gave him supernatural strength, and nothing could hold him. He lived among the tombs, because his life was basically over. He was as good as dead.

Bible verses about the battle is the Lord's. There are many Bible verses where God promises to fight the spiritual battles for us. You do not need to be afraid.
Jesus’ enemies are mainly based in Jerusalem. When they see Jesus driving out demons, they tell the people that he is able to do this because Jesus is possessed by the devil himself, and he is doing it to deceive the people. The teachers of the law can’t deny what Jesus is doing; that he really is liberating people from the power of demons. And since they can’t deny it, they try to explain it away by saying that Jesus is doing it by the power of the devil. Jesus applies some good sound logic to the situation. He asked the religious leaders, “How can Satan drive out Satan?” Satan can’t work against himself.

As a Christian you will experience spiritual warfare. The more committed to Jesus & the more active in God's mission work you are, the more you will experience.
I believe we need to be asking more questions before presuming we need more prayer. We need to make sure we have assessed our true condition before applying the particular treatment that God has in mind. Certainly the blood of Jesus is powerful and complete. But there is a part we also play in our long-term health.
