Laying Aside Painful Past
Thank God the much anticipated New Year is eventually here! The celebration seems to have subsided and things seem to be taking their right position. Yet the painful thoughts of the previous year still lingered, as you kept pondering on all the ugly circumstances that befell you.
As far as some are concerned 2008 was a year of sorrow, dreadfulness, nightmares, financial woes, spiritual fruitlessness, bereavement, joblessness, failures, setbacks, sickness, pains, and so on.
Dearly beloved, remember that as you dwell on the painful past, your ability to move forward and possess the treasures God have for you this year might be hampered. It is time to forget the past and shy away from allowing the painful circumstances of the past to contaminate the awesome blessings God have prepared for you this year.
God understands every negative ills that befell you in the previous year and He wants you to move on to better plans He had for you.
The Bible says in Isaiah 43:18-19, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
God is ready to change your circumstances for good; He is ready to break asunder all the plans of the devil against you, your family, your job, and your career.
Therefore, my beloved brethren lay hold on the promises of God in your life. Spend more time on your knees in prayer to God. This is coming from the depth of my heart. Make prayer your utmost priority this year. Be mindful of the tricks and deceptions of the devil and his agents. Pray for the spirit of discernment that God would open our eyes this year to discern between fake and reality.
It is time to forget the past and do not allow the painful circumstances of the past to contaminate the awesome blessings God have prepared for you this year. Do not gamble with sin this year: be violent against the chains of the devil and rebuke him when he comes with any cunningly device fable of sin.
This is not the time to joke with the devil, but a time to make a determined effort to flee from any sinful habits that ties you to the devil. Make this New Year a year of full commitment to serve God will all your heart.
Beloved, lay aside all painful past and match forward towards acquiring God’s abundant blessings for you.
