FMF— Cancle

This post was originally published on November 13, 2020 and is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Where I join up with a  community of bloggers who blog for Jesus., Free write for 5 minutes, unscripted, unedited, just write on a one-word prompt. This week’s word prompt is: {Cancel}

Go

As someone with chronic illness, it seems as though I cancel plans with friends and family a lot. Well, it doesn’t seem like it. It is the truth.

Along with the canceling of plans, even ones that have been made weeks ahead of time comes guilt. Me being that person who doesn’t want to let others down. Along comes emotions that tag along at the back of my pants pulling me down and slowing me even more. Those being the increase of intense anxiety, depression, shame, those intrusive self-doubt thoughts of should have, would have, could have, I’m not good enough. You know the ones that Satan puts in our heads, thinking he’s doing to defeat us.

Stop

Even though my illnesses cause me to cancel plans and I begin to wallow in my emotional pity party. I Thought stop, and go to God in prayer, and seek his word in  Scripture, drawing near to him for comfort and counsel.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” Acts 3:19 (NIV)
