Give up the easy life and take the way of Christ - Raising GENERATION Zion
Given a choice, any human would choose the easy life.
Orpah chose a life of ease rather than a life of suffering. She had initially expressed her interest of going ahead with Naomi and Ruth. But, she chose to return to Moab after a deeper introspection of what she wanted.
On the other hand, Ruth loved God. She learnt to trust God during suffering. Despite what she was going through, she had a deeper relationship with God and continued to hope in Him for her future.
What does it take to choose God’s will above your own will? Give up the easy life.
Orpah and Ruth both were going through the same trial. Both had the option to stay or leave. While Ruth stayed, Orpah caved into the pressure of a life of ease. She lacked the deeper consecration and strength that Ruth had built over the years with God while living with Naomi.
In Matthew 16:24, Jesus teaches us to deny ourselves and take up the cross. The closer we get to His coming, the harder it feels. God hasn’t changed. Have you? When we change, let it be from faith to faith, glory to glory.
Lot chose to separate rather than insist on following Abraham. Lot chose the settled city life rather than a life of faith, living in tents like Abraham.
King Solomon got sucked into an easy life full of earthly riches that cost him his walk with God. Moses humbled himself, leaving the wealth of an ungodly world to serve the living God.
How is your consecration today, dear believer? Are you seeking to grow in the character of Christ or live in your passions and pride? The road ahead with Christ may feel unknown, but if you trust in the all-knowing God, the road will be made clear for your good.
Get out of the easy life. Embrace the way of Christ. Maranatha, Praise God, and Amen.
