God’s Many Sons Brought into Glory

In Romans 8 New Jerusalem is composed of the many brothers of Jesus Christ who are conformed to His image and glorified. In Hebrews 2 New Jerusalem is constituted with the many sons of God brought into glory. We have been born of the Spirit with the eternal life to be sons of God the Father New Jerusalemand brothers of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 2:10 tells us that “it was fitting for Him [God the Father], for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in leading many sons into glory, to make the Author [Jesus Christ] of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”

The sufferings of Jesus, from birth until His death on the cross, combined with His resurrection and ascension, are used by God in leading us into glory. Through His death we were redeemed and in His resurrection we were regenerated (1 Pet. 1:3). Now we have Christ as our life, the life of New Jerusalem.

“When Christ our life is manifested, then you also will be manifested with Him in glory” (Col. 3:4). This manifestation is a big step forward in “leading many sons into glory.”

However, our manifestation with Christ is not the final step. That manifestation will occur when He returns, at the beginning of the kingdom age. The final step is in Revelation 21, “the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God….having the glory of God.”
