God's Promises In The Bible - Pursuing Intimacy With God

There are many of God’s promises in the Bible God’s word. How many of God’s promises are in the Bible ?

The Bible Gateway site says there are 5467 of God’s promises in the Bible. Another site says there are 3573 promises in the Bible. Another source states there are over 7000 of God’s promises in the Bible.

It is safe to say that there are thousands of wonderful promises that are found in God’s word the Bible. God’s promises are not necessarily only for God’s children. There are many promises in the Old Testament known as the Messianic promises or prophecies. These point to the coming Messiah or Savior Jesus Christ.

The vast majority of God’s promises are for God’s children, those who have a restored relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Here is some Biblical information on God’s promises in the Bible, and a list of many of the promises:

GOD’S PROMISES ARE OURS (BELIEVERS) TO CLAIM BECAUSE OF JESUS

2 Corinthians 1:20 says “For as many as are the promises of God, in Him (Jesus) they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.”

Jesus paid the price for our sins and guilt and punishment on the cross. He also paid for the right and the privilege for us to have a restored personal relationship with God. Jesus also paid for all of God’s promises for us on the cross, and God fully intends to do and give what He promises.

GOD ALWAYS DOES WHAT HE SAYS AND PROMISES (HE ALWAYS KEEPS HIS WORD & PROMISES)

Isaiah 46:11 “What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.”

Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it?”

Because of God’s perfect character and perfect faithfulness, God’s Promises are actually Guarantees.

Here are some of God’s promises, or guarantees, for His children… people who have a restored relationship with Him through His son Jesus Christ:

1.YOUR NEEDS

“BUT SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM (God’s Kingdom work & mission) AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (A close & right fellowship with God), AND ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU AS WELL.” – MATTHEW 6:33

“AND MY GOD WILL MEET ALL YOUR NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS GLORIOUS RICHES IN CHRIST JESUS.” – PHILIPPIANS 4:19

“ I WILL SATISFY YOUR NEEDS…” – ISAIAH 58:11

” THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I SHALL NOT WANT.” – PSALM 23:1

2. WHEN YOU HAVE TROUBLES

” CAST ALL YOUR ANXIETY (CARES) ON HIM BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU.” – I PETER 5:7

“AND CALL UPON ME IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE. I WILL DELIVER YOU, AND YOU WILL HONOR ME.” – PSALM 50:15

” I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS: I WILL COME TO YOU.” – JOHN 14:18

” CAST YOUR BURDEN ON THE LORD, AND HE WILL SUSTAIN YOU.” – PSALM 55:22

3. IF YOU ARE ANXIOUS

“REJOICE ALWAYS… THE LORD IS NEAR. DO NOT BE ANXIOUS ABOUT ANYTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER & PETITION, WITH THANKSGIVING, PRESENT YOUR REQUESTS TO GOD. AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH TRANSCENDS ALL UNDERSTANDING, WILL GUARD HEARTS AND MINDS IN CHRIST JESUS.” – PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7

“YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER KNOWS THAT YOU NEED ALL THESE THINGS.” – MATTHEW 6:32

“LET THE PEACE OF GOD RULE IN YOUR HEARTS,… AND BE THANKFUL.” – COLOSSIANS 3:15

4. WHEN YOU ARE AFRAID

“SO DO NOT FEAR, FOR I AM WITH YOU. DO NOT BE DISMAYED, FOR I AM YOUR GOD. I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU AND HELP YOU. AND I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH MY RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND.” – ISAIAH 41:10

” I WILL NOT FORGET YOU. SEE, I HAVE ENGRAVED YOU ON THE PALMS OF MY HANDS.” – ISAIAH 49:16

“THE LORD IS THE ONE WHO GOES AHEAD OF YOU. HE WILL BE WITH YOU. HE WILL NOT FAIL YOU OR FORSAKE YOU. DO NOT FEAR OR BE DISMAYED.” – DEUTERONOMY 31:8

“THE NAME OF THE LORD IS A STRONG TOWER. THE RIGHTEOUS RUNS INTO IT AND IS SAFE.” – PROVERBS 18:10

“I SOUGHT THE LORD AND HE ANSWERED ME, AND DELIVERED ME FROM ALL OF MY FEARS.” – PSALM 34:4

5. WHEN YOU NEED ANSWERS & GUIDANCE

“CALL TO ME AND I WILL ANSWER YOU AND TELL YOU GREAT AND UNSEARCHABLE THINGS YOU DO NOT KNOW.” – JEREMIAH 33:3

” HE WILL CALL UPON ME, AND I WILL ANSWER HIM.” – PSALM 91:15

“HE (THE HOLY SPIRIT) WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH.” – JOHN 16:13

“FOR THIS GOD IS OUR GOD FOR EVER & EVER; HE WILL BE OUR GUIDE EVEN TO THE END.” – PSALM 48:14

“I WILL INSTRUCT YOU AND TEACH YOU IN THE WAY YOU SHOULD GO; I WILL COUNSEL YOU AND WATCH OVER YOU.” – PSALM 32:8

6. IF YOU NEED WISDOM

” IF ANY OF YOU LACK WISDOM, LET HIM ASK OF GOD.” – JAMES 1:5

“HE WILL TEACH US HIS WAYS, SO THAT WE MAY WALK IN HIS PATHS.” – ISAIAH 2:3

“TO THE MAN WHO PLEASES HIM, GOD GIVES WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE, AND HAPPINESS…” – ECCLESIASTES 2:26
