God’s Wisdom Overcomes Every Hindrance

God created but that was not God’s goal. His goal, His eternal purpose, is to manifest Himself through created humanity regenerated with His life. New Jerusalem, the conclusion of the Bible, is the high point of His display.

The hymn praising God’s wisdom* continues to sin and mercy in verse 3. Thank God for His abundant mercy!
Thy wisdom shuts up all in sin,
—–That mercy may be shown,
That none may boast in anything
—–But in Thyself alone.
This reminds me of Philippians 3:3, we “boast in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh.”

Although sin came in and spread to all mankind and corrupted the entire creation, the infinitely wise God cannot be defeated. The fourth verse of the hymn:
New JerusalemIn wisdom, by the cross, Thou hast
—–For us redemption made,
That in our spirit we may have
—–Thyself, the treasure, laid.

The redemption by the cross removed the problem between us and God. God in Christ coming into us as our life laid the foundation for the accomplishing of God’s purpose. Now this life must grow in us. We grow, not as individuals but for the building up of the Body of Christ (Eph. 4:16).

The wise God attracts us inwardly to cooperate with Him (Phil. 2:12-13) and also arranges our outward environment for this growth and building. Although we do not always appreciate our environment, the wisdom of God is there. He knows what we need to participate in His purpose.

No matter how much we have grown in the past, today we need to pursue toward maturity that we may participate fully in New Jerusalem where all is mature and perfected.
