Grace, the Supply and Glory, the Expression (4)

Grace is God in Christ as our supply for a proper Christian living. Glory is the expression of this living. Both are increasing from now to New Jerusalem.

New JerusalemFirst Peter 5:10 speaks of “the God of all grace, He who has called you into His eternal glory…” The God of all grace is grace to us to supply and strengthen us for our current Christian life, which includes endurance in sufferings.

The outcome of our living by the supply of grace is “His eternal glory.” This glory is manifested in Jesus Christ in His visible return to earth, in His magnification by His believers, in His reign on earth, and by New Jerusalem.

Second Peter ends, “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and unto the day of eternity.” Grace is for our growth in the Christian life. Note that it comes before growing in knowledge, and hence is of greater importance.

Then the glory comes forth to our Lord and Savior both now and unto eternity (New Jerusalem). The glory now is not as magnificent as later but if we are living and growing in grace, something of Christ will be manifested through us.
