Happy Mother's Day

Being a mum is such a special thing and yet it has its moments, doesn’t it?
This afternoon I found Lydia with a whiteboard marker the older kids were supposed to have put away. She had the lid off, and she was wearing her brand new pyjamas! Then I noticed the pot of bubbles that had spilled all over the bookcase and onto the books. And the carpet. Lydia was into stuff that I had told the bigger kids to put away, so I was not happy! In my stress I couldn’t help remembering one time my mum got very stressed over some mess my siblings had made with mud. I remembered at the time thinking it was all very pathetic. ‘Honestly, it’s only a bit of mud!’
Now I can relate much better! But a few minutes later, in my bedside drawers, I found a sweet picture Esther had made for me which I hadn’t found before.
The whole situation reminds me of this verse I have been thinking about lately.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Proverbs 14:4
Motherhood is messy and filled with difficulties, but we learn and grow so much through it all. There are so many blessings–the cuddles and kisses, the gifts, the cuteness, the love, the special moments, the sweet notes, etc. and all the ways we grow as a person through being a mum.
It’s good to keep these blessings in sight in the stressful moments!

Happy Mother’s Day!
