Help Me To Become

By Little Mama of Faith

quote about not judging

A favorite hobby of mine is solving Crytogram puzzles. I love this quote from a Cryptogram I solved today:

“Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you will help them become what they are capable of becoming.” –Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I love this! It’s so easy to judge others, pat ourselves on the backs and think, “I don’t do that” or “I’m glad I’m not like that.” But that only helps us by boosting our own egos a bit. It really doesn’t help the other person.

I’ve known the Lord since I was a young girl, but that didn’t stop me from doing some pretty stupid things, which I’m not at all proud of, just to try to “fit in” and get people to like me.

During those times, I don’t remember a single time when someone judged my behaviors and that caused me to change for the good.

What I do remember is the role models and mentors who loved me and convinced me I was “better” than all of that and deserved more out of life. Kudos to them!
