Hope…

Hope…

what you have

When I was sick as a child. My mother would put vapo rub on my chest, button up my PJs, and put the vapo rub by my nose, A cool rag across my forehead, a box Kleenex on the stool next to my bed, a paper bag for tissue, and a pat on the head

My mother would tell me “Everything is going to be alright”.

And as bad as I might feel my mother’s concern and attention made me feel as if everything was going to be all right.

My mother gave me hope that everything was going to be alright.

People, good Christian people come to me in counseling- Depressed, anxious and the thoughts of just giving up. They seemed to have lost their hope.
Yes, things are bad- the economy, the politic situations, war and rumors of war, the disregard for life and any number of things can make things look hopeless.

But understand nothing really has changed that much.
Things have been no different through our history.

Do you remember these things that happened in the bible?

Tower of Babel, Noah, Ahab/ Jezebel, Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, captivity in Babylon, the second destruction of Jerusalem in 70, persecutions,

In our 3421 years of recorded history there have been only 268 years without war.

From the beginning there was sweat, toil and weeds.

Read Genesis 3.
The Key to overcoming the hopelessness of our situation is to understand that we have always had a promise, we have always had hope

We are the hope, we have the hope.
The Hope of the cross.
The Hope of the empty tomb.
The Hope of the resurrection.

1 Peter 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…

We are the people of the resurrection.

We must give the world hope.

We have the answer, Jesus

We Christians are the  vapo rub in a sick world.
We need to tell the world…

“Everything is going to be alright”.

Everyone can say,” Ahh”.
