How Giving Impacts Shame - Denise Pass

Shame RX: When shame derides us, we send it packing when we do the unexpected.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

As we have been focusing this week on the shame finances can bring in our lives, sometimes extinguishing shame takes an opposite approach.

When we feel in need or concerned about our finances, we can choose not to focus on that need and instead find a way to be generous. Giving to others takes the focus off of self and reminds us of who our Provider is.

When shame derides us, we send it packing when we do the unexpected. Give when you feel in need. In small ways or large ways, our giving impacts others as well as ourselves.
