In God the Father & the Lord Jesus Christ

New JerusalemThe two New Testament books to the Thessalonians are “to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” This is a wonderful example of God’s NT desire, that He have something composed of human beings who are in Himself and in Christ Jesus.

This composition is “the house of God, the church of the living God” in 1 Timothy 3:15. It is also the Body of Christ in Ephesians 4, the bride of Christ in Ephesians 5, and the corporate warrior in Ephesians 6. The bride is also in Revela-tion 19:7-8 and is New Jerusalem in 21:9.

For humans to be “in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” is one side of the preparation of New Jerusalem. The other side is for God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to saturate the inner being of the humans and eventually to glorify our bodies out of mortality.

This inner working, which comes forth from regeneration, is described in the NT as renewing, transformation, and conformation. Key verses include Romans 8:29 and 12:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Galatians 4:19; Ephesians 4:23; and Titus 3:5.

Ultimately this mingling of humanity in divinity and divinity in humanity will be New Jerusalem.
