Is There Hope For Every Man? - Jewell Utt
Casting Crowns captured my heart with their song Every Man.
There is hope for every man. A solid place where we can stand. In this dry and weary land, there is hope for every man.
Jesus ministers to a world in need through His church. Hope and solid ground is found there.
Rob Cook recently shared this true story. http://www.robcookunderground.com/
A pastor told two young guys they were going to Hell because of their appearance. The guys were busy serving on the streets handing out tracks. Their sin was long hair. In this day and age I marveled at the blatant judgment. Isn’t that the role of God? My heart was unsettled because I know inside of the universal church, reside those thoughts. Whether voiced or withheld, it’s no different than the sin of lust.
So what distinguishes these young men from the people who judge them? Perhaps they’re a tad more humble because they know from where they came. Getting people off the streets into the arms of God would be easier, if they didn’t have to pass go. Street evangelism is difficult when churches won’t participate in the next step–discipleship.
My friend Rob runs a youth ministry, and they come in right off the streets. He preaches the gospel, teaches them truth and see conversion. He offers a middle ground, but even he has a hard time trusting the church that will receive them. That makes me sad.
I am part of a loving church. I hope you are too. Our Millennial generation, believer or not, is feeling out of sorts with the church. Yet that’s the very place Christ wants them to belong.
