Jesus Christ Became the Head of the Corner for Building New Jerusalem

The eternal Word, God, became a God-man by putting on human flesh in incarnation (John 1:14). He lived a wonderful human life then died on the cross to eliminate many negative things of the old creation. In resurrection He became the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45) so that He could impart life into us in regeneration. The goal of these becomings is New Jerusalem, the conclusion of the Bible.

Furthermore Matthew 21:42 records Jesus quoting Psalm 118, “The stone which the builders rejected, this has become the head of the corner.” The rejection of Jesus by the Jewish leaders, who should have been God’s builders, was by crucifying Him. His becoming the Head of the corner was in resurrection.

New JerusalemThis is confirmed by Peter’s word in Acts 4. In verse 10 he declares that God raised Jesus Christ and in verse 11 he speaks of Him becoming the Head of the corner.

Christ is both the Life and the Cornerstone for God to us. Life supplies us with the divine riches which gradually saturate us and build us together with His as the Stone. The saturation of our being is our growth in the divine life. This is by daily receiving the bountiful/rich supply of the Spirit (Phil. 1:19; Col. 2:19; 2 Peter 1:11).

The outcome of the life supply and the building is firstly the church in this age, secondly the manifested kingdom in the coming age, and thirdly New Jerusalem in eternity.

Do You Feel Accepted or Rejected?

The scarlet letter loomed large. It wasn’t an A like Hester Prynne’s in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s book I had read in high school, but a big fat R that I chose to wear when life turned ugly. Read more...
