JESUS IS… The Bread of Life — John 6:22-71 | Sunday Sermon with Dave Miers

Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life”, in John 6, and the crowd that wanted bread walks away. Why? Because we live in the overlap of two ages, and Jesus is offering bread that the world doesn’t recognise.

The old age of decay continues; the new age has begun in Christ. We need daily bread for one, and eternal bread for the other. Religion says do, do, do. Jesus says the work of God is to believe in the one he has sent. He gave his flesh on the cross so that all who come to him, believe in him, and feast on him will be raised imperishable on the last day.

So what are you really hungry for? And what bread are you living on? When others walked away, Peter spoke for the Twelve: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” There is nowhere else to go; only Jesus is the bread of life.
