What is Love?

God reveals His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Indeed, God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whoever believes in Him should not die, but live with Him eternally (John 3:16). See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God – and that is what we are! (1 John 3:1)

This is love – not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to take away our sins. Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another (1 John 4:9-11).  Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows Him. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:7-8).

Love is patient and kind, never giving up. Love cares more for others than for self and is content with what it has. Love is not proud or boastful; it isn’t pushy or self-centered. Love doesn’t fly off the handle or keep score of other’s sins. Love delights in the truth and not in evil. Love always looks for the best, trusts God completely and perseveres in hope (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

“Do you love me?” Jesus asked.

“Yes, I do.”

“Feed my lambs and take care of my sheep.”  (John 21:15-16)

“If you love me, show it by doing what I have told you. The person who knows my commandments and obeys them, that’s who loves me” (John 14:15, 21).

Be Blessed,

Remi
