Act 5 vs 2-3 2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
- The Bible tells the story of Ananias and Saphira, who sold their possession and brought part of the money instead of the whole money.
- Their offence was not because they brought part of the money but because they lied that what they brought was whole.
- They had no excuse for lying to the Holy Spirit since they had not been forced to part with the price of the whole possession.
- They both fell and died at the temple because they both lied to the Holy Spirit.
- The lesson from this passage is that you must be careful and truthful in the presence of God.
- Another lesson is that lying to the Holy Spirit can lead to both physical and spiritual death.
- You must strive to say the truth at all times, especially in the presence of God otherwise there is a grivious judgement for lying to the Holy Spirit.
