New Jerusalem, Habitation of the God of Peace (4)

Jesus Christ made peace through His death and resurrection. This has been announced to us through the gospel. When we believe into Christ we come into this realm of peace. This expands within us unto New Jerusalemits fullness in New Jerusalem.

Based on what the Lord accomplished, seventeen epistles and Revelation include peace in the initial greeting. This peace is “from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (or similar wording).

Peace is not from ourselves nor from human efforts to make peace. Only Jesus Christ, through His death and resurrection, can bring us solid and remaining peace. Praise Him for this accomplishment!

Most of the greetings say “grace to you and peace.” We need the Lord’s grace to reach His peace. Hebrews 4:16 exhorts us to “come forward to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace for timely help.”

To “come forward” is to exercise our spirit which is joined to the throne in the heavenlies. More on this is in the footnotes on Hebrews 4:16 and 10:22 in the Recovery Version New Testament (available without cost at biblesforamerica.org/free-bible/).

The Lord’s grace brings us peace in Him. In the world we do not have peace but in the Lord we have peace (John 16:33). The entire city of New Jerusalem is in Him so the city is fully a realm of grace and peace.
