New Jerusalem Has No Corruption

First Corinthians 15:50 declares, “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither does corruption inherit incorruption.” 15:52 adds, “the trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.”

Here corruption is coupled with death as are incorruption and resurrection. The same is in 15:42-43a, “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory.” Resurrection, glory, and incorruption are all characteristics of New Jerusalem.

Verse 15:54, quoting from Isaiah 25:8, says, “when this corruptible will put on incorruption and this mortal will put on immortality, then the word which is written will come to pass, ‘Death has been swallowed up unto victory’.” New Jerusalem will also be a testimony of the victory of God’s eternal life.New Jerusalem

New Jerusalem is the center of the new creation. Not only New Jerusalem but also the whole creation will be without corruption. This is the fulfillment of the hope expressed in Romans 8:21, “In hope that the creation itself will also be freed from the slavery of corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
