New Jerusalem is a Cube, the Holy of Holies

Revelation 21:16b: “the length and the breadth and the height of [New Jerusalem] are equal.”

The measurement of the New Jerusalem shows that it is a cube with three equal dimensions. This means that the entire New Jerusalem is straight, perfect, and complete, without any defect, bias, obliqueness, or shortage. The dimensions of the Holy of Holies, both in the tabernacle and the temple, are equal in length, breadth, and height (Exo. 26:2-8; 1 Kings 6:20). Hence, that the length, the breadth, and the height of the New Jerusalem are equal signifies that the entire New Jerusalem will be the Holy of Holies.*

New JerusalemThe tabernacle and the physical temple had three sections: the outer court with the offering altar and laver, the holy place with the table and lampstand, and the holy of holies. In contrast, New Jerusalem is only the innermost holy of holies; the outer court and holy place are no more.

This shows that we have fully passed through the outer court and holy place. We are permanently in the holy of holies and have no more need to participate in their activities. Hebrews 9:12 tells us that Christ, after offering Himself on the cross afterwards through resurrection and in ascension “entered once for all into the Holy of Holies.”

Now He is interceding for us in the heavenlies and “He is able to save to the uttermost those who come forward to God through Him” (Heb. 7:25). To be saved to the uttermost is to be saved fully into New Jerusalem as the holy of holies.

    Crying in the Corner

My son, Steven, was three years old when he contracted a severe case of the flu. His slumped body snuggled listlessly in my lap like a worn-out rag doll. When I carried him into the medical clinic, the doctor took one look at my boy and sent us straight to the hospital. Steven was dehydrated and needed fluids immediately. My heart ripped wide when the nurses taped a support board to Steven’s little arm and inserted the needle for the IV. Read more...
