Our Daily Walk on the Golden Street (2)
Revelation 21:21 says about New Jerusalem, “the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.”
After we enter into the New Jerusalem, we must walk on the divine nature as our way. As we walk on the golden street, we are spontaneously regulated, for a street regulates. In the New Jerusalem everyone is regulated by the unique street, by the golden nature of God within us.
The pure gold of the unique street in the New Jerusalem is “as transparent glass,” signifying without any opaqueness….This indicates that if we take God’s nature as our unique way, we will be pure, without any mixture, and transparent without opaqueness.*
In the epistles we are exhorted “do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit” (Rom. 8:4) and”Walk by the Spirit” (Gal. 5:16). The Spirit brings the divine nature into us. To walk by the Spirit, who is one with our human spirit (1 Cor. 6:17) is to walk according to the divine nature.
In Romans 8 and Galatian 5 the contrast to Spirit is flesh, which is the fallen man indwelt by sin as described in Romans 7:7-24. Walking according to the Spirit saves us from the fallen flesh and bring us into the foretaste of New Jerusalem.
Today we must exercise by the spirit to put to death the practices of the flesh (Rom. 8:13) but in New Jerusalem everything of flesh and sin will be in the lake of fire and we will continually walk in spirit and on the golden street.
