Overcome Fear of Failure by Recognizing these 5 Things

Overcome Fear of Failure by Recognizing These 5 Things

Most people have a fear of failure.  I know I certainly do.

It crops up right when I feel the most ambitious and begin to take steps to confidently follow something I know to be right.

“But, what if you fail?”

The enemy is still up to his ‘ole tricks…

He loves loves loves to plant seeds of doubt and worry, like the whole world is going to come crumbling down at the first sign of trouble and struggle.

The Truth, though, is that this is not at all how God has made the world to work.

You CAN succeed, even if you trip and stumble along the way.

Overcome Fear of Failure by Recognizing these 5 Things

The other day Mark and I took our nightly walk.  We were discussing the way that the Lord has used our journey and struggles to grow and mature us both in various ways.

He said something that I thought was so great I literally stopped to make note of it. He said,

Life is meant to be lived off-balance.  Take walking for example: you only get anywhere because of a constant shifting from off-balance to off-balance, which consistently pushes you further and further ahead.”

See why I married this guy!?

The fear of failure is a quick and dirty way to keep us stagnant and immobile.  I know no one wants to be in this condition intentionally, but it takes action and intention to move past the fear and into activity.

Action eradicates fear.

You are worth the success that lives on the other side of your fears.  Our Abba says that it is so.

RE-FRAME FEAR AND PUT IT IN ITS PLACE

Fear of failure starts with fear.  Fear of the unknown, fear of success, fear of being different, fear of being wrong…FEAR.

When the icky, stomach-churning fears crop up and attack, that’s when we need some serious Truth to help us move forward.

Here are 5 things to recognize to help you reframe fear when it attacks.

Recognize #1:   Success is on the other side of fear

Recognize #2:  I feel fear because I am uncomfortable

Recognize #3:  When I am uncomfortable, it means I am growing

Recognize #4:  If I stay too comfortable, it means I am not moving forward

Recognize #5:  The problem is not in feeling fear; the problem is letting it stop me from acting

No matter what it is that you am afraid to do, whether it is taking action to grow a business or take steps to become a better parent, all the fear in the world will do nothing to help you achieve your goals.

FACE THE FEAR.  DO THE THINGS.

The only way for you to have the victory that you desire is to step out and take action.

Lean into the fear, look it in the face, and remember how small it is in comparison to the great vision you have for the other side of it.

Our God is bigger than even the tallest mountain.  He will always provide a way through the forest.
