Overcoming/breaking the power of water Spirits and mermaids

Overcoming/breaking the power of water Spirits and mermaids

Exodus 7 vs. 19 – 21:“The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt —over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs’-and they will turn to blood. Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in the wooden buckets and stone jars.”

Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood. The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.

Exodus 12 vs. 12: “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn — both men and animals — and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.

Water is one of the primary elements in the earth.  Two thirds of the whole earth is covered by water in form of Oceans, Lakes, Rivers, Canals, Ponds, Streams and Glaciers.  The human body itself is majorly about eighty (80) per cent water.

Water is one of the elements created by God and can serve both useful and negative purposes.   In the story of creation as written in Genesis 1, the glory of the world was covered and subdued by the waters, and God had to command the waters to be gathered aside and ‘dry land’ to appear, before his work could be manifested.

And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. –Genesis 1 vs. 9

Hitherto, water was covering the glory of the World.  God used water to destroy the earth during the days of Noah.

Waters occupied another place in history after God had delivered his people – the Israelite nation- from the hands of their cruel oppressors – the Egyptians.

On their way out of Egypt to the Promised Land, the Israelites encountered a stonewall in form of the Red Sea.  God had to do the astounding miracle of parting the Red Sea, to enable the people cross cover to the other side. A King was healed of leprosy on the instruction of Prophet by the waters of River Jordan.

By that same River Jordan, John the Baptist led many to salvation including the Lord Jesus Christ, who also received divine impartation and empowerment in the process. Therefore depending on the situation, waters can be an asset or a liability. Water has various significances.  Like every other work of God, water was made for useful purposes – for everything God created is good.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.” Genesis 1 vs. 31

But like every other work of God, Satan at times uses water as a tool of evil.  Various evil spirits have possessed waters of the oceans, seas, rivers, streams and ponds; and they have turned it into habitation for committing evil against the human race and the kingdom of God.

These water Spirits are often referred to as mermaid Spirits, mammy water Spirits, Queens of the coast, and various other types of names in different parts of the world.

Any Christian wishing to lead an overcoming and victorious life must clearly understand the nature of these water Spirits in his locality and paralyze their activities.

My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” –Hosea 4 vs. 6

God himself, acting through his prophets – Moses and Aaron confronted these evil powers of the waters in the course of delivering Israelites from the cruel bondage and oppression of the Egyptians.  This story is recounted in the Book of Exodus.

God had sent Moses to Pharaoh the King of Egypt that he should allow God’s people – the Israelites to go and serve Him in the wilderness.  But Pharaoh refused, stubbornly hardening his mind.  God therefore decided to send several plagues against Pharaoh and his people, which eventually forced him to release the Israelites.

What concerns us in this write up is the nature of the plagues and their purpose, particularly the first plague.

Exodus 7 vs. 19 – 21: “The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt —over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs’-and they will turn to blood.

“On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn — both men and animals — and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.

Exodus 12 vs. 12: “Exodus 12 vs. 12  “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn — both men and animals — and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.”

These quoted passages clearly shows that plagues was used to judge the gods of Egypt, as Egyptians worshiped the elements and animals God sent plagues against.  Through the plagues, God disgraced the gods of Egyptian, which the Pharaoh was trusting to deliver him from the God of the Israelites.

But of particular interest to us is the first plaque of turning all waters in Egypt into blood. Commenting on this in the Annotated Reference Bible, Finnis Jennings Dake said:

“Turning the Nile to blood was against worship of the river as a god under the name father of the gods or father of life (Page 110) …… all waters of Egypt – in streams, rivers, ponds and all vessels in the homes was worshipped by Egyptians under various names and symbols.

It was the father of life and the father of the gods.  Thus the first miracle was a blow to the gods of Egypt.  The Egyptians abhorred blood and their horror must have been extreme when they saw their sacred river and all other water in there turned to blood.

IN SUMMARY:
The first plague of turning the waters to blood has several significances.

Ø      The plague was directed not only at the Red Sea, but all the waters (rivers, ponds, lakes, streams) in every city, town, village and locality in Egypt.

Ø      Because these waters were worshipped and held sacred by the Egyptians this plague was a judgement on the water spirits of Egypt.

Ø      More importantly, it is noteworthy that first plague against the Egyptians was directed at the Water Spirits. It clearly informs that when carrying out deliverance for businesses, churches, communities, nations, places and prayers, ourselves should be primarily directed at disgracing water spirits and gods of the waters.

“The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name.”  –Exodus 15 vs. 3

God is a warrior and a master strategist and as Christians we must learn and follow his strategy of achieving victory.

How do you disgrace the gods of the waters in order to ensure your deliverance?

·        The first step you need to take is to give your life to Jesus Christ and live a life of complete Holiness.  The battle is the Lord, but the Lord will not fight your battles if you are not his child.  God fought for the Israelites because they are his people, therefore if you cannot be described as a disciple of God, then make today your day of salvation.

·        The next step you need to take is to carry out a spiritual mapping of your village, your locality, state and nation. Identify the rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, oceans and rivers.  Know the names by which the waters are called.  Know the gods that are worshipped in the waters. Identify the satanic activities and operations of the spirits of these waters.

Pray against these spirits. Execute judgement against the oracles worshipped in these waters.  Command the water gods and goddess to be disgraced. And paralyze their satanic activities over your life.

Few years ago, when I was facing some spiritual attacks, the Holy Spirit instructed me to pray against the “Spirit of Yemoja”, informing me that I was being attacked by that particular Spirit and I had to pray and overcome its activities over my life.  On careful investigations I discovered that ‘Yemoja’ is not only the river goddess, but also the mother goddess of all gods and idols in Yoruba ethnic group of Nigeria, in Africa.

As a Yoruba man it was therefore not surprising to me that I was being attached by the ‘Yemoja’ Spirit which my idolatrous ancestors must had covenanted all Yorubas. It was therefore necessary for me to cut off the negative influence on the Yemoja spirit over my life, and the only way I could do this is by praying against its spirits, paralyzing its activities on my life.

I like to conclude this message by stating that Christians cannot live victoriously unless they wage Spiritual warfare using biblical principles and the foremost biblical principle is praying and disgracing the gods of the land, the water spirits, mermaid spirits and queens of the coast.

We should realize Satan has turned the waters into a tool of carrying out several operations, but Jesus has given us the power to overcome these activities.  Jesus was not only give all powers in heavens and on earth, but also under the earth.  Jesus power under the earth is intended to be used in overcoming the evil powers under the earth, which are principally water Spirits.

Give your life to Jesus Christ and exercise this power today.

Pray like this:
(1)  Powers of the water troubling my life, the God of Israel will trouble you today.

(2) Waters of my village, community and nation, receive the blood of Jesus Christ.

(3) Waters in my body refuse to cooperate with the enemies of my progress.

(4) Oracles and gods of my village waters, receive the judgement of God in Jesus name.
