Planning for Wisdom
“Fail to plan, plan to fail”
I am a list maker. There is something satisfying about crossing something off a list and completing a task.
While it is just a physical reminder of something I need to do, I know that by writing it down I will often remember it better. Or at least I don’t have to worry about retaining the information because I will be reminded of it when I see it in print.
What we often fail to list are those actions that are much more important than any daily chore looming over our head.
Proverbs 14 begins with the verse,
“Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.” Proverbs 14:1
As I read this chapter over several times, I searched for what it might look like if I were to put this verse into practice. There was nothing in this passage about cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, laundry, dishes, or any of the like. What I saw was a much different list:
I don’t know what’s on your to-do list today, but why not start it with Proverbs 14?
Facing the day with confidence–not in yourself or your abilities, but in God’s–you will see the difference He can make as you maneuver through whatever life throws at you.
“In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children have a refuge.” Proverbs 14:26
