Praying Scripture— Discernment

Scripture

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

1 John 4:1— NIV

And

“Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.”

Hosea 14:9— NIV

Pray

Dear Father, help me to examine, study, assess, and measure what I read, see or hear. So that I can discern and confirm information is from you. I pray that you keep me away from false information. Please help me to be wise and discerning with you by my side. I pray for understanding of your words and to walk in them always.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

The scarlet letter loomed large. It wasn’t an A like Hester Prynne’s in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s book I had read in high school, but a big fat R that I chose to wear when life turned ugly. Read more...
