Rebekah--a Picture of the Church

Rebekah is a picture of the church. She lived far away from Isaac just like we are all far from God by nature. Like Rebekah was appointed to be the bride of Isaac, Christians are appointed to be the bride of Christ.

Isaac, the son of Abraham, is a picture of Christ the Son of God.

The servant is a picture of those who are already saved. We are sent out to win souls and bring them to Christ like the servant was sent out to find a bride for Isaac. Rebekah hadn't seen Isaac—all she knew of him was what she heard from the servant. He was a good representative of the Son and she was immediately attracted to him. So those without Christ only know of Him what they see through Christians. We should be good representatives of God's Son.

Rebekah had to decide whether she would go or not. She was willing and she went. We have to decide, “Will we go with Christ?”

Now then we are ambassadors (representatives) for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.  2 Corinthians 5:20
