Reconciling with the Past - Denise Pass

Shame RX: Reconciling the past helps us to live in the present.

Psalm 34:5 (NIV)

“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”

“The past is the past”, “Don’t live in the past”, yada, yada. On the advice flows about how not to let the  past torment your present and future, yet just stating something does not make it so.

Unless we deal with the past biblically and all of its shame, we are held captive by it. The past informs the future and when we gloss over it and just try to move forward, we are hindered by what we did not truly deal with.

The past left unattended does not help us to heal from it and it can impact how we go through this life—broken or whole.

When we look to God and His word in the past, present and future, we are never covered with shame. Reconciling the past with God’s truth, grace and humility, we can release regret and understand that God’s plan is unfolding throughout our lives. No moment is wasted and every moment is redeemed for those who are in Christ.
