Redemption for New Jerusalem (3)

The redemption we have received, which opens the door that we “might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance” (Heb. 9:15) which includes participation in New Jerusalem. In Christ “we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of offenses, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7).

New JerusalemRedemption is only the first step of what we receive but even this is not minimal but rather “according to the riches of His grace.” Furthermore, Ephesians 3:8 tells us that the riches of Christ are exceedingly rich, “unsearchable.”

The redemption derived from these riches not only gain us forgiveness. First Peter 1:18 assures us “that you were redeemed from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers.” Whatever kind of life we had, in the eyes of God it was vain but He has redeemed us from it!

The only life that is not vain to God is “Christ our life” (Col. 3:4). He is our life now, He will be “manifested in glory,” and He will continue to be our life in New Jerusalem.
